Police on manhunt for two gold robbers in Amansie South

Authorities have initiated a manhunt for two armed robbers who fled with gold and other valuables following an attack at Manso Watreso in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.

The operation comes in the wake of the mob lynching of two of the suspects’ accomplices by enraged community members.

The robbery occurred when the suspects targeted community mining workers returning home from their shift.

Kofi Mensah, the Assembly Member for the Manso Watreso Electoral Area, reported that the robbers made off with over 30 pounds of gold, the keys to a pickup truck, and more than GH¢11,000 in cash.

Community members managed to apprehend two of the suspects after raising the alarm, but the remaining two escaped with the stolen goods.

Police have since been informed of the incident. The bodies of the lynched suspects have been sent to the morgue, and investigations are ongoing.
