Three Injured in Clash Between Rival Youth Groups at Kasoa Eid-ul-Fitr Carnival

Kasoa, April 1, 2025 – A violent confrontation between two rival Muslim youth groups during an Eid-ul-Fitr street carnival in Kasoa has left three people with serious injuries.

Tensions Escalate Despite Warnings

The altercation, which erupted on Monday evening in the Awutu Senya East Municipality, reportedly stemmed from unresolved disputes between the two factions.

Eyewitness Mohamed Osman, speaking to Adom News, revealed that tensions had been brewing between the groups even before the fasting period. Three days prior to the carnival, rumors of a possible confrontation circulated, prompting community elders to intervene and urge restraint.

However, their warnings went unheeded as one of the groups allegedly disregarded the advice and instigated chaos at the event.

Police Make Arrest

Law enforcement officials have since arrested one suspect, who is being held at the Kasoa Central Business District (CBD) Police Command. Upon his arrest, officers recovered a hammer and other offensive weapons in his possession.

Meanwhile, the injured victims are receiving treatment at the Kasoa Polyclinic, as investigations continue into the incident.
