Majority Leader Ayariga: Mahama’s SONA Brings Hope Amid Economic Challenges

Accra, Ghana – February 27, 2025
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has expressed renewed confidence in Ghana’s future following President John Dramani Mahama’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term.
Speaking after the address, Ayariga acknowledged Ghana’s economic struggles but highlighted the hope and vision Mahama’s speech has inspired.
“Mr. Speaker, what has happened to our economy and our country, and the presentation that has been made, says it all. It is sad. It is unfortunate, but His Excellency the President has brought us hope,” he stated.
According to Ayariga, Mahama’s address resonated strongly with various groups across the country, including the youth, women, Okada riders, private sector players, students, and ordinary Ghanaians.
“We have no doubt that everything outlined here gives hope, and this house will support His Excellency to deliver on his commitment,” he affirmed.
Ayariga also emphasized the importance of accountability, stating that those responsible for Ghana’s economic challenges must be held to account.
“More importantly, this house will support His Excellency to deliver on the promise of accountability. Those who so damaged our economy must be held accountable,” he declared.
Mahama’s address has sparked renewed national discourse on governance, economic recovery, and accountability, reinforcing expectations for bold reforms in the coming months.
