Three charged in connection with Liam Payne’s death
Three individuals have been charged by Argentinian authorities in connection with the tragic death of Liam Payne, the former One Direction singer who passed away on October 16 after a fall from the third-floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires. Payne, 31, reportedly had traces of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system at the time of his death. The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that one individual accompanying Payne faces charges of abandonment leading to death, along with supplying and facilitating drugs, while a hotel employee and another person have also been charged with supplying drugs.
The incident took place at the CasaSur hotel, where hotel staff made multiple emergency calls, reporting that Payne was severely intoxicated and had been damaging his room. Following the incident, police discovered various substances in his room as well as damaged items. The official autopsy attributed his death to “multiple trauma” and “internal and external hemorrhage” from the fall, with evidence suggesting he may have fallen while in a state of partial or total unconsciousness, ruling out any voluntary act.
In their extensive investigation, authorities have examined hundreds of hours of security footage, conducted raids, and reviewed witness testimonies. Payne’s family has since brought his body back to the UK, where former bandmates Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles released a heartfelt statement expressing their deep sorrow and gratitude for the memories they shared with him. Memorials held across the UK and globally have seen thousands of fans paying tribute to the beloved artist.
