Inusah Fuseini Slams MP Ntim Fordjour Over ‘Suspicious Flights’ Claims

📍 Accra, Ghana – April 13, 2025 — Former Tamale Central MP and ex-ranking member of the Defence and Interior Committee, Inusah Fuseini, has criticised Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the current MP for Assin South, over his recent public allegations regarding “suspicious flights” within Ghanaian airspace.
Speaking during a panel discussion on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue on Saturday, April 12, Fuseini described Fordjour’s approach as “reckless” and warned that it blurs the vital line between national security and partisan politics.
“I have wondered what a third-time MP wants to achieve,” Fuseini remarked. “As a ranking member of defence and interior, he acts as a shadow minister and that gives him access to sensitive information. There are procedures for escalating security concerns, and that route wasn’t followed.”
He accused Fordjour of fueling what he called a “culture of excessive partisanship,” which he fears could erode the credibility of Ghana’s national security institutions.
A Call for Responsibility and Restraint
Fuseini emphasised the seriousness of making public claims without concrete evidence, especially in matters of national security. He warned that airlines and other stakeholders implicated in such allegations could suffer severe reputational damage, potentially leading to legal consequences.
“If there’s no evidence, those airlines will suffer reputational damage. If they seek to clear their names, Ghana could be held liable,” he said. “We’ve made it look like it’s just politics as usual, but these things have real consequences.”
While acknowledging that suspicion is natural, Fuseini insisted that public responsibility must prevail.
“Everyone has the right to suspect. But when you make those allegations public, you bear the full duty to produce evidence. You cannot just make those allegations and move on.”
A Broader Warning on Politicising Security
Fuseini’s comments come at a time when the politicisation of national security issues has become a growing concern in Ghanaian public discourse. Analysts have also raised red flags about how security matters are increasingly being used as tools for political advantage.
This latest clash adds to mounting tensions in the run-up to Ghana’s general elections, where security, governance, and public trust in national institutions are expected to be key themes.
