✅ Convenience – Users can complete registration from anywhere.
Background of SIM Card Re-Registration
🔹 The SIM card re-registration exercise was first introduced in 2021 but faced multiple deadline extensions due to low participation.
🔹 The exercise mandates all SIM card holders to re-register using their Ghana Card, the country’s national identity document.
🔹 Millions of SIM cards remain unregistered, leading to government intervention to ensure compliance.
Security & Fraud Concerns
Despite the government’s efforts, some Ghanaians have raised concerns about:
⚠️ Data security risks – Possibility of personal information being compromised.
⚠️ Fraudulent registrations – Risk of identity theft using the mobile app registration system.
However, authorities have assured that enhanced cybersecurity measures will be in place to prevent fraud and safeguard personal data.
Government’s Objective
The primary goal of enforcing SIM re-registration is to:
📌 Enhance national security – Prevent crimes involving unregistered SIM cards.
📌 Improve regulatory oversight – Ensure accurate SIM data for better industry regulation.
📌 Curb digital fraud – Reduce scams and mobile-related cybercrimes.
