The National Identification Authority (NIA) has reiterated that the first-time issuance of the Ghana Card at its 276 Operational District Offices nationwide remains free.
However, the authority has introduced fees for first-time card issuance at Premium Centres, following approval by Parliament in 2023.
Fee Structure for Ghana Card Services at Premium Centres
According to the NIA’s public notice, the following charges apply at Premium Centres:
- First-time Ghana Card issuance – GH₵310.00
- Card replacement – GH₵125.00
- Record updates with card replacement – GH₵420.00
- Nationality updates – GH₵70.00
- Record updates only – Free at District Offices, GH₵310.00 at Premium Centres
The NIA emphasized that the Ghana Card serves as a crucial identification document, facilitating access to government services, financial transactions, and other essential activities.
The authority urged Ghanaians to take advantage of the free issuance at district offices while ensuring transparency in its paid services.
