President Mahama Declares Assets

Accra, Ghana – February 18, 2025
In a bold step towards transparency and accountability, President John Dramani Mahama has officially declared his assets to the Auditor-General at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
The asset declaration, required under Ghana’s Public Office Holders (Declaration of Assets and Disqualification) Act, provides a detailed account of Mahama’s financial holdings, properties, and other assets.
A New Era of Openness
Unlike previous years when declarations were made privately, Mahama made his submission public to set an example and rebuild public trust.
“In times past, I would privately present these forms to the Auditor-General in fulfillment of my statutory obligation. I have taken the step of presenting these forms publicly as a way of injecting some openness and transparency into the process of asset declaration.
While it is important to punish corruption, a more effective approach is to prevent it from occurring in the first place. If properly enforced, the asset declaration process can become a sustainable tool for tackling corruption.”
Appointees Face Sack for Non-Compliance
Mahama further warned all government appointees to declare their assets by March 31, 2025, or face severe sanctions, including dismissal from office.
His directive aligns with Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and accountability.
With this move, Mahama is setting a new standard for public officeholders, ensuring strict compliance with Ghana’s anti-corruption laws.
