President Mahama to Submit Final Ministerial Nominees on January 20, 2025

President John Dramani Mahama will present the final list of his ministerial nominees to the Speaker of Parliament on Monday, January 20, 2025, fulfilling his pledge to name his complete cabinet within two weeks of taking office.

The President has committed to maintaining a lean government with no more than 60 ministers. This final submission is expected to include nominees for crucial ministries such as Defence, Interior, Environment, Health, and Labour, as well as three additional Regional Ministers.

Clarification on False Reports

The Presidency’s Communications Team has dismissed reports of an alleged third batch of ministerial nominees as “false and misleading.” The unverified claims named high-profile National Democratic Congress (NDC) members, including:

  • Rashid Pelpuo as Minister of Interior,
  • Muntaka Mubarak as Minister of Transport, and
  • Sam George as Minister-Designate of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation.

In a statement, the Office of the President clarified that no such nominations have been made and urged the public to disregard the misinformation. Official announcements, it emphasized, will be communicated only through authorized channels.

Governance Agenda

This final list of nominees will mark the completion of President Mahama’s ministerial appointments, setting the stage for his governance agenda. By prioritizing a streamlined and efficient administration, the President aims to address key national challenges and foster economic growth and development.

The Appointments Committee of Parliament is expected to begin the vetting process immediately following the formal submission.
