NHIA disburses GH¢270m to hospitals for Oct-Nov 2024

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has allocated GH¢270 million to healthcare providers nationwide, covering vetted claims for October 2024 and part of November 2024.

In a statement dated January 3, NHIA Chief Executive Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye affirmed that the payments align with the agreed three-month reimbursement timeline, leaving no pending vetted claims.

“This payment increases the total amount disbursed by the NHIA in the last four months to over GH¢1.2 billion, underscoring the Authority’s commitment to supporting healthcare providers and sustaining the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS),” Dr. Aboagye stated.

Healthcare facilities were reminded to submit claims promptly, adhering to the 90-day claim submission limit.

Recent NHIA disbursements further highlight its financial commitment. On December 1, 2024, GH¢200 million was released for claims related to September and part of October. Earlier, on October 9, 2024, the Authority disbursed over GH¢335 million for August claims. In September 2024, a payment of GH¢402 million was made to cover claims from June and July.

These consistent payments reflect NHIA’s dedication to meeting financial obligations and enhancing Ghana’s healthcare sector for the benefit of its citizens.
