One Arrested In Okaikwei South For Carrying A Pistol
Arrests Made for Electoral Offences in Okaikwei South and Bono East Constituencies
A party agent from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was arrested at the St. Theresa’s School polling station in the Okaikwei South Constituency after verbally attacking an Electoral Commission (EC) official in the early hours of December 7. Following the altercation, a tip-off led to the discovery that the individual was allegedly carrying a pistol. The suspect was taken into police custody and transported to the Kaneshie Police Station.
In a separate incident in the Bono East Region, an Electoral Commission official, identified as Dery Joseph, was arrested at the Ampesika Bayere polling station in the Kintampo South Constituency. The suspect is under investigation for issuing 15 ballots to voters that reportedly omitted the first presidential candidate.
Both incidents highlight the importance of vigilance and security in maintaining the integrity of the ongoing elections. The police have assured the public of thorough investigations and appropriate actions against any electoral malpractice.
