Religious leaders call for professionalism from security forces

The Eminent Persons Group of the Christian Council of Ghana has urged security agencies to maintain professionalism and neutrality during the December 7 elections to ensure a peaceful and credible process. The group, composed of Christian and Muslim leaders, stressed the pivotal role of security forces in safeguarding the integrity of the elections.

Co-Chair Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, speaking to the media, called on the Ghana Police Service and other state security agencies to demonstrate impartiality and fairness throughout the electoral period. He praised Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for his assurance of neutrality and professionalism, emphasizing the need for these principles to guide the actions of security personnel on election day.

Dr. Boafo also appealed to the police to foster a safe and intimidation-free environment for voters, highlighting that the credibility of the electoral process depends on their unwavering commitment to upholding the law with fairness.
