EC destroys defective ballot papers for Ahafo and Volta Regions

The Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed the destruction of defective ballot papers intended for the Ahafo and Volta Regions due to serialization errors. The process was carried out on Thursday, November 21, under police supervision and with the involvement of representatives from various political parties.

Upon identifying the issue, the EC immediately halted the distribution of the flawed ballots and contracted Buck Press and Acts Commercials to reprint error-free ballots, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.

The EC emphasized that its internal quality control mechanisms identified the defects, countering claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that their representatives first flagged the issue.

This incident underscores the importance of stringent quality assurance as the EC prepares for the 2024 general elections, a critical step in upholding transparency and public confidence in Ghana’s electoral system.
