Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has called on political parties to collaborate with the Ghana Police Service to ensure peaceful and incident-free elections. Addressing representatives of political parties at a meeting in Accra on Thursday, November 21, Dr. Dampare emphasized the importance of law and order before, during, and after the polls.
The IGP urged parties to prepare not only for the possibility of celebrating victory but also for accepting defeat graciously, stating, “As you plan to celebrate your possible victory, plan to also celebrate your defeat or endure it, knowing that only one will win.”
He reassured attendees of the police’s readiness to maintain peace and order but highlighted the need for the cooperation of all stakeholders to achieve this goal. “As long as everybody plays their role, Ghana will win,” he concluded.
The meeting underscores the Police Service’s proactive approach to fostering collaboration among stakeholders to ensure a successful electoral process.
