OSP Denies Involvement in Alleged Raid on Ken Ofori-Atta’s Residence

Accra, Ghana – February 12, 2025
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has strongly denied allegations that it conducted a raid on the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in Cantonments.
Reports emerged on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, claiming that individuals dressed in military uniforms stormed Ofori-Atta’s home while he was out of the country. Sources indicate that the former minister has been in the United States since early 2025 for medical treatment and had formally informed the Chief of Staff of his travel.
OSP Dismisses Allegations
Addressing the press on Wednesday, February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng categorically refuted the claims, insisting that the OSP was not involved in any raid on Ofori-Atta’s residence.
“Mr. Ofori-Atta, the OSP did not raid your house on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, or on any other day. The OSP did not cause any person, however uniformed, to raid your house. That could not have been the OSP, and that is not our style,” Agyebeng stated.
He emphasized that the OSP follows strict procedures when conducting searches, ensuring that its presence is unmistakable.
“If the OSP enters your premises, you will not be in doubt as to where the OSP had come from, and your lawyers will not have cause to inquire as to whether it was the OSP.”
OSP Suggests Raid May Have Been Staged
The Special Prosecutor further suggested that the alleged raid was either staged or carried out by imposters attempting to discredit the OSP’s ongoing investigations.
“Our intelligence points us to state that the purported raid of Mr. Ofori-Atta’s residence was staged or, at best, an imposter action in an attempt to cause disfavor for the OSP and to derail the investigation,” he said.
Despite these developments, the OSP has declared Ken Ofori-Atta a suspect in four high-profile corruption investigations, including:
- The National Cathedral project
- The Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) contract
- Two other undisclosed cases
The Special Prosecutor assured the public that investigations will proceed as prescribed by law.
