Dagbon case is a great example that unity achieves positive results – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his deep gratitude to the people of Dagbon for their support and collaboration during his presidency, highlighting the peace, stability, and progress achieved in the region. This came after the Dagbon overlord, Yaa Naa Abukari Andani II, praised the president for his pivotal role in resolving the long-standing conflict between the Abudu and Andani royal families.

During a visit to the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, as part of his two-day tour of the Northern, North East, and Savanna regions, President Akufo-Addo was lauded by the Yaa Naa for his leadership in ensuring the peaceful resolution of the Dagbon crisis. Yaa Naa Abukari II commended the president for swiftly resolving the conflict, which had caused significant loss of life and unrest over the years. The resolution allowed for the performance of the funerals of two late Yaa Naa and the installation of a new leader for Dagbon.

The Yaa Naa also extended his appreciation for the president’s ongoing support and his appointment of key individuals from the North to leadership roles, including the first Finance Minister from the region.

In his remarks, President Akufo-Addo congratulated the Yaa Naa on the success of his reign and emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving positive outcomes for traditional institutions. He also took the opportunity to thank the people of Dagbon and the nation as he prepares to step down from office in three months. Additionally, he rallied support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as a competent and honest leader capable of continuing his legacy.

The president’s visit was marked by a traditional offering from the Yaa Naa, symbolizing the deep respect and friendship between the two leaders.
