Former Liverpool boss Klopp takes Red Bull role

Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has been appointed as the global head of soccer at Red Bull, set to begin his new role on January 1, 2025. After nearly 25 years in football management, Klopp expressed excitement about joining Red Bull in a leadership capacity.

Although he will not be involved in the day-to-day operations of Red Bull’s soccer clubs, Klopp will provide guidance on playing philosophy, transfer strategies, and coaching development across the Red Bull-owned teams, including RB Leipzig (Germany), Red Bull Salzburg (Austria), New York Red Bulls (USA), and Red Bull Bragantino (Brazil). Red Bull also holds a minority stake in Leeds United in England.

Klopp’s illustrious managerial career includes winning eight trophies during his nine years at Liverpool, including the Premier League and Champions League titles. He previously managed Mainz and Borussia Dortmund, where he won two Bundesliga titles.

Oliver Mintzlaff, Red Bull’s CEO of corporate projects and investments, praised Klopp’s influence and leadership, calling him a “game-changer” for Red Bull’s growing involvement in international football. A formal press conference to announce Klopp’s appointment will take place in mid-January.
