Baba Yara Ban: If I were President Akufo-Addo, I will fire my Minister for Sports – Nii Lante Vanderpuje

Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuje, says that there is absolutely no excuse for Ghana to be without a stadium fit enough to host Category 3 international games.

Category 3 international games are football games that are to be played at venues that seats at least 30,000 people.

However, the Baba Yara Stadium’s bad pitch that has been panned by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo among other issues have led to the ban.

Speaking on ChannelOne TV’s “The Big Issue”, the former Sports Minister talked about the importance that needs to be attached to the Sports Ministry and added that the recent happening is “inexcusable.” (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“As we sit today, if I were President Akufo-Addo, I will fire my Minister for Sports. If the Minister of Sports has not already recommended that the Chief Executive of the National Sports Authority should be fired, then he the Minister must go.”

Due to the ban, Ghana is set to play its 2025 AFCON qualifier against Sudan in either Cote D’Ivoire or Togo in October.
